In an ever increasingly social media driven world, it is vital for companies to stay up to date on the most current trends and platforms. While it used to be standard for companies to maintain an active presence of Instagram, Facebook, and even Twitter, the standard is now shifting to also include one of the newest and most popular social media platforms: TikTok.

Since its official launch in 2018, TikTok has grown like wildfire, becoming the most popular app in 2019 and 2020, in which it was downloaded 693 million and 850 million times respectively. While it can seem overwhelming to begin posting on such a widely used platform, it is important for businesses to get their foot in the door and start promoting on this app. Read more to learn five key benefits of using TikTok for business:

  1. Increase Brand Awareness & Enhance Brand Identity

As of 2023, TikTok has over 1 billion active users, meaning that there is ample opportunity for brands to increase their brand awareness amongst their target consumers, since the “For You Page” of TikTok allows users to see videos from creators who they might not currently follow. This will inherently increase exposure to the company, especially if the video includes trending sounds and hashtags

Because TikTok emphasizes a more casual approach to the normal social media experience, companies have the ability to give consumers an inside look into the more fun, lighthearted, or goofy side of the brand. 

It might be cool to make videos featuring important members of the company or show sneak peeks of the manufacturing process.

One of the best features of TikTok, specifically for brand use, is that of ‘Stitches’ and ‘Duets’. These features allow users to link their video with a different user’s video, meaning that brands can launch their own ideas or campaigns while targeting the following of the user who they duet or stitch, without having to pay any money for sponsorships or advertisements.

TikTok’s specific algorithm of the “For You Page” is designed to show users content that they are interested in and thus are likely to engage with. This means that businesses can directly target their desired consumers based on demographics, interests, and behaviors to ensure that their content is being seen by the appropriate audience.

Within TikTok companies have the ability to purchase in-feed ads, sponsored posts by influencers, or branded hashtags. In comparison to other social media platforms, such as Instagram or Facebook, TikTok’s advertising costs are relatively low while still performing just as well if not better.
