As you scroll through TikTok, sometimes it can feel as though you’re watching the same video on repeat. The same songs, dances and jokes are being used over again by every creator. While it may feel repetitive to some viewers, brands, influencers and celebrities use trends to consistently go viral and grow their brands. Small businesses have been able to use the algorithm to grow their brand in ways that were once unimaginable.
Businesses from small corners of the Earth have been able to be viewed by millions of people all over the world. From small businesses with niche markets like discrete Disney merchandise to crystal and tarot card companies, businesses can grow their brands rapidly by just going viral.
These companies can connect with audiences worldwide and target specific customers using hashtags, dances, and sounds that TikTok’s algorithm will target at their customer base. TikTok’s algorithm is one of the best of any social media and will directly target whoever the brand wants to reach. This makes it easier for companies to grow their brands. According to America’s Small Business Development Center, businesses can get rid of ad agencies and therefore spend less money on advertising and instead can use employees that are knowledgeable in social media to create content for their company.
Brands can also easily connect with influencers, big or small, and use PR boxes and sponsorship deals to grow their business that much more. They can also now connect with their customers in ways that they never thought possible and are now able to get information directly from the customer. They can follow trends and see what is popular within their market and talk with customers directly through direct messages and comments on their videos. They can also search through duets and hashtags to see what their customers are thinking about their products and get direct and honest reviews and feedback. This also gets rid of the trial and error process for new products as small businesses can find out directly from the customers what they want next, and their thoughts on new products before they even hit the shelves.
Entrepreneurs can now clearly see what products are missing from their markets and what customers are searching for that have not yet been created. This allows businesses to create new products that their customers want, and allow for the expansion of markets in every niche.
While trends may come and go, and it may be hard for small businesses to keep up, there are so many perks to advertising their products and creating a brand on TikTok. TikTok has changed the way that companies not only advertise their products and connect with customers but also how new businesses are made. It makes it easier for small businesses to compete with larger companies and allows them to create more value for their products. TikTok has allowed small businesses to achieve their goals and dreams that they once thought impossible, and all it takes is an understanding of a simple algorithm.
